Delhi's Legislative Push: School Fee Regulation and CAG Reports in Focus

The Delhi Legislative Assembly is gearing up for a significant session as it prepares to table a crucial bill designed to regulate school fee hikes and two pivotal reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). Scheduled to run in a fully paperless format, the Monsoon session commences on Monday, marking an administrative and technological shift under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Education Minister Ashish Sood will introduce the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill, 2025. This legislative proposal aims to bring transparency and accountability to the fee-fixing process of private schools, safeguarding the interests of parents with strict penalties for non-compliance. Concurrently, the session will review two CAG reports, scrutinizing state finances and the welfare of building and construction workers in the fiscal year ending March 2023.

These proceedings reflect a broader commitment by the government to enhance digital access, with the entire assembly accessing documents electronically. The BJP hopes the CAG reports will shed light on alleged financial mismanagement by the former AAP administration, setting the stage for potential political confrontations throughout this legislative period.
