Press Club Demands Action on FIR Against Journalist
The Press Club of India urged Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister to withdraw an FIR against journalist Sanjeev Sharma and the portal Samwad Bharat. The FIR accuses them of spreading misinformation, but they were reporting concerns about police response to an accident. PCI condemns this as silencing journalism.

The Press Club of India (PCI) has made a strong appeal to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, requesting the withdrawal of a first information report (FIR) lodged against a journalist and a news portal by the Shimla police.
The PCI criticised the police's action against journalist Sanjeev Sharma and the news portal Samwad Bharat, describing it as an 'attempt to intimidate and silence independent journalism'.
According to the PCI, the FIR wrongly accuses the journalist of spreading misinformation. Both Sharma and Samwad Bharat had simply reposted a message from a road accident victim's son concerning police delays. The PCI demands the Chief Minister's intervention to uphold freedom of speech and expression.
