In a tragic turn of events in Balasore, Odisha, two men were arrested for allegedly prompting a 20-year-old college student to commit self-immolation, police reported on Monday.
The state's Crime Branch apprehended the suspects late on Sunday in connection with the woman's death. It has been revealed that she, a student at Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College, resorted to the drastic measure after her complaint of sexual harassment was dismissed by the college's internal enquiry committee.
Among those arrested are Jyoti Prakash Biswal, a college student and burn victim from the incident, and Subhra Sambait Nayak, a state student organisation leader. Earlier, an assistant professor and the former principal of the college were also detained regarding the case.
