Additional Superintendent of Police, Kaushalendra Dev Patel, identified the official as Dinesh Singh Chandel, a platoon commander. Chandel reportedly shot himself with his AK-47 inside his room. Colleagues who heard the gunshot rushed to the scene, only to discover him deceased.
