Sri Lanka's Supreme Court dismissed two petitions challenging seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed with India, solidifying the agreements made during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit in April.
The court, with a bench of Justice Achala Wengappuli and Justice Priyantha Fernando, found no prima facie case to proceed, a significant win for bilateral relations between the two nations.
Nationalist groups argued that these agreements, affecting key areas like defense cooperation, digitalization, and multi-sectoral assistance in the eastern province, violated constitutional and international norms. However, the lack of substantial evidence led to the dismissal of the petitions.
