Ayodhya district has imposed a comprehensive ban on unauthorised drone use following an order by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Previously confined to the temple town area, drone restrictions now cover the entire district, driven by security concerns raised by suspicious drone activity.
District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde invoked emergency powers to enact the ban, cautioning against drones being misused to incite fear or aid illegal activities. Only police and designated security agencies are exempt from this regulation, with private operators requiring written permission.
The decision aligns with a broader state initiative to monitor drone use, prompted by a recent spike in drone-related arrests and FIRs. CM Adityanath warned of severe penalties, including property seizure, for those breaching the directive. He insisted on technology's proper use and indicated potential policy updates to tighten regulations in sensitive regions like Ayodhya.
