The Netherlands has pledged €500 million to procure U.S. military equipment for Ukraine, marking the first contribution to NATO's new initiative to bolster Kyiv's defense. Others are expected to follow as NATO coordinates rapid equipment delivery to assist Ukraine against Russian aggression.

The Netherlands has committed €500 million ($578 million) to acquire U.S. military equipment for Ukraine, becoming the first NATO ally to contribute to the new NATO Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative aimed at supplying Kyiv with vital American weaponry.
Announced by Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans, the package includes Patriot parts and missiles. NATO chief Mark Rutte has voiced encouragement for other members to join the effort, stressing the urgency for Ukraine to bolster its defenses against Russian hostilities.
U.S. ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, anticipates more country announcements soon, as the initiative, coordinated by NATO and funded by European nations and Canada, seeks swift delivery of crucial equipment from U.S. stockpiles.
