In a landmark move to bolster global democratic interaction, over 130 Indian legislators will attend the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Summit in Boston from August 4 to 6, 2025. This initiative, facilitated by the National Legislators' Conference Bharat (NLC Bharat), marks the largest-ever Indian legislative delegation at any global gathering.
Spanning 24 Indian states and representing 21 political parties, the diverse delegation reflects India's rich democratic fabric. This follows the initial 2024 visit of 50 legislators to the Louisville Legislative Summit, an unprecedented achievement for independent India. Dr. Rahul Karad, Founder of NLC Bharat, emphasizes the delegation's role as a testament to Indian democracy's strength and its aim to foster cross-border learning.
The visit aligns with a broader vision to develop non-partisan platforms for legislators. Attendees will engage in various sessions and interactions, promoting dialogues with global peers and Indian diaspora leaders. NLC Bharat's structured engagement model aims to establish India as a leader in democratic innovation, strengthening its global legislative presence.
