In a significant security breakthrough, 44 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were discovered by security forces in a forest area bordering Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan and West Singhbhum districts on Wednesday, according to police sources.

A senior officer, SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, confirmed that the IEDs were successfully defused by a bomb disposal squad at the location. The recovery followed a tip-off, prompting a joint security operation in the Dalbhanga area where the explosives were found in a plastic container.

Authorities suspect the explosives were planted by Maoists aiming to disrupt the ongoing anti-Naxal campaign in the region.
