The Kerala State Election Commissioner, A Shahjahan, has announced an extension for the deadline to update the voters' list ahead of the general elections to local bodies. The new deadline is set for August 12, moving from the original date of August 7.
Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan previously urged the Election Commissioner to extend the deadline due to technical glitches in the online submission process, affecting name additions, corrections, and transfers between wards.
Other political leaders, including KPCC president Sunny Joseph and BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, supported the request for an extension. The dates for the local body elections have not yet been announced, pending the resolution of these issues.
