A man was apprehended for recklessly harassing a lion in Gujarat's Bhavnagar district, as confirmed by officials on Thursday. The incident, captured in a viral video, shows the individual dangerously approaching the feeding lion while recording it on his phone.
As the man edged closer, the lion charged at him, causing alarm among onlookers who attempted to scare the lion away by shouting. Despite the lion's charge, the man continued to film, stepping back up when the lion returned to its meal.
The video prompted authorities to investigate, resulting in the arrest of local resident Gautam Shiyal. Charged under the Wildlife Protection Act, Shiyal was denied bail and remains in custody, highlighting the serious repercussions of endangering wildlife.
