In a significant breakthrough, Nagpur police apprehended two men from West Bengal, allegedly involved in circulating counterfeit currency. The duo, identified as Jaminarul Hussain Lokman Sheikh and Azimtanu Sheikh, were caught holding fake notes valued at more than Rs 1.21 lakh.

The arrest took place near a local hospital late Wednesday night, under the Tehsil police station's jurisdiction. Police found 243 counterfeit Rs 500 notes, amounting to a total face value of Rs 1,21,500, concealed in a plastic bag.

The accused initially claimed to be job-seekers but later confessed to stealing a passenger's bag with the fake currency while traveling on the Geetanjali Express. They were taken to a local court and placed in five-day police custody.
