Union Minister Jitendra Singh has reiterated the government's commitment to addressing backlog vacancies in central government positions. He emphasized that filling these vacancies is an ongoing effort.

In a written response to the Rajya Sabha, Singh detailed the instructions issued to all ministries and departments. Each is required to establish a committee to investigate the root causes of backlog in reserved posts, initiate a special recruitment drive, and ensure the speedy filling of these vacancies. A liaison officer of deputy secretary rank or above is to be designated along with forming a special reservation cell for enforcing reservation-related compliance.

According to Singh, approximately 4.8 lakh backlog vacancies have been filled since 2016. Ministries have been advised to maintain a time-bound approach to filling such posts. Reservation percentages for OBCs, SCs, STs, and Persons with Disabilities have been highlighted, ensuring diversity in recruitment and promotion in central government roles.
