Rescue Operations in Full Swing as Tourists Stranded in Uttarkashi
A landslide in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, has left 151 Maharashtra tourists stranded. Of these, 120 have been contacted and are safe, but 31 remain unaccounted for. The Maharashtra government is in active dialogue with Uttarakhand officials after a devastating landslide and flash floods stranded 151 tourists from the state. On Thursday, officials confirmed communication with 120 tourists, who are safe at an ITBP camp.
The state's Chief Secretary, Rajesh Kumar, has appealed to Uttarakhand counterpart Anand Bardhan for all possible assistance in locating the remaining tourists. This includes overcoming poor connectivity issues exacerbated by adverse weather conditions. Arrangements via rail and air are underway.
Rescue operations are gaining momentum, with helicopters, buses, and ITBP teams mobilized. The ongoing attempts to restore road and communication access are critical. Satellite phones and telecom support are being leveraged to trace the missing tourists.
