Governor Greenlights Prosecution in West Bengal School Scam

West Bengal's school recruitment scandal edges closer to key political figures as Governor C V Ananda Bose sanctions the prosecution of state Correctional Services Minister Chandranath Sinha. The authorization comes in response to findings by the Enforcement Directorate indicating possible monetary misconduct.

According to an official from the Raj Bhavan, the governor's decision follows the presentation of documents linking Minister Sinha to money laundering activities. The central agency discovered Rs 1.5 crore across two bank accounts registered to Sinha, failing to receive satisfactory explanations for the transactions.

Previously, the Enforcement Directorate pressed charges against Sinha's political associate, former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee. The controversy unfolds amid broader investigations involving expelled TMC youth leader Kuntal Ghosh. Despite twice being summoned for questioning, Sinha has yet to comply, claiming no knowledge of the chargesheet lodged against him.
