Zuber Ahmad Vani, a man on the run since a murder incident in June 2024, has been apprehended in Azadpur, officials announced Friday. Vani, from Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, had been designated a proclaimed offender in connection with the case.

The accused, employed at a godown, was wanted for his role in a murder case registered at Adarsh Nagar Police Station on September 25, 2024. A targeted operation by the Crime Branch, acting on detailed intelligence, led to Vani's capture in Azadpur.

According to the investigation, Vani and a godown driver had a dispute on June 16 that escalated when Vani's associate, Kamlesh, intervened. Kamlesh restrained the driver while Vani allegedly assaulted him with bricks. The victim later died in the Trauma Centre in Civil Lines. The investigation continues.
