François Gasana, a Rwandan, has been extradited from Norway to face charges related to the 1994 genocide, which saw over a million people killed by Hutu extremists.

Gasana, accused of murdering a child and inciting violence, was taken into custody upon his arrival in Kigali, confirmed Faustin Nkusi, a spokesperson for Rwanda's prosecutor's office.

After years of international pursuit, the case highlights Rwanda's ongoing efforts to bring justice to those involved in the genocide, as the country's internal justice system continues to address cases left by the now-closed International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
