Tragedy struck Delhi's Tihar Jail on Friday when two inmates, both convicted of murder, died after slipping and drowning in a stormwater drain.
The incident happened around 8.30 am as Amit and Vinay Kumar were cleaning a drain in Jail Number 8. Questions arise as to why they were cleaning it, as there was no official order assigned for the task.
A judicial inquiry and police investigation have been initiated. Additionally, the jail administration has launched a departmental probe, leading to the suspension of three officials. CCTV footage and witness testimonies are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
