Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of exploiting the grave allegations surrounding the Dharmasthala case for political leverage. The explosive case involves multiple murders and sexual assault allegations, with a significant probe being conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The controversy erupted after a former sanitation worker, under anonymity, reported allegations of forced burials of murder victims in Dharmasthala. In response, BJP organized the 'Dharmasthala Chalo' rally, demanding accountability for what they describe as a smear campaign against Hindu temples.
While BJP criticizes the state government's handling of the probe, Shivakumar assures neutrality and justice. The Deputy CM stressed the Congress's stance on not politicizing the issue and assured that any conspiracies or slander campaigns would be dealt with according to the law.
