The Delhi High Court has directed the Centre to clarify if X Corp., a social media platform, must join the Sahyog portal, which deals with human trafficking, child trafficking, and security issues. The Centre must respond by September 10.
The court is examining a petition from X Corp., previously known as Twitter, which seeks to be relieved from the current proceedings. The platform is contesting its inclusion in the Sahyog portal in a separate case pending at the Karnataka High Court.
The Sahyog portal, launched by the government's Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, aims to streamline communication between government agencies and intermediaries to promptly address unlawful online activities. Despite the ongoing legal challenge, 64 intermediaries have already joined the initiative.
