In response to local concerns, Mehbooba Mufti, president of the Peoples Democratic Party and former chief minister, canceled her scheduled visit to a cloudburst-hit village in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir. The visit was intended for Sunday.
The decision was influenced by fears that her presence might impede rescue operations in Chisoti village, located in the Padder sub-division. A party spokesperson explained that distracting the administration during such critical relief efforts was not advisable.
Mufti emphasized the administration's immediate priority should be the provision of relief to affected villagers and pilgrims and locating missing persons. Demonstrating empathetic leadership, she conveyed solidarity with the victims' families, assuring them of the party's support during this distressing time.
