Malvinder Singh Kang, AAP Lok Sabha MP from Punjab, has reached out to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar with a call for urgent action regarding the plight of Indian nationals stranded in Spain. This situation arises from significant delays in passport renewal and re-issuance at the Indian Consulate.

Kang's letter underscores a 'humanitarian emergency' resulting from common issues like lost or expired passports. For over six months, numerous citizens, many hailing from Punjab, have been stranded, deprived of fundamental rights such as mobility and family reunification. Viral videos circulating capture the distress and medical or family emergencies faced by those affected.

The MP has urged the Consulate in Spain to overhaul its current procedures and prioritize pending cases to ensure efficient service. Kang seeks swift resolution to alleviate the suffering, restore dignity, and reunite families, affirming India's role as a compassionate caretaker of its diaspora.
