Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has called for intensified checks on unauthorized building constructions across the state, following a tragic fire incident in Bengaluru. The fire, which broke out at a plastic articles manufacturing unit near K R Market, claimed the lives of five individuals, including a family of four.
The victims were identified as Madan Singh, his wife Sangeetha, their children Rithesh and Vihaan, and a neighbor, Suresh Kumar. Madan Singh, a native of Rajasthan, had been renting the building for a decade, using it as both a residence and a business space for producing plastic kitchen items and utensils.
The fire, suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, brought to light the issue of unauthorized constructions where godown-like structures are erected without proper permits. Minister Parameshwara emphasized the need for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to address such violations actively.
