A tragic accident occurred in Bihar's Gopalganj district on Saturday when a home guard was killed, and his colleague was injured while chasing individuals carrying liquor on a motorcycle, according to police reports.

The unfortunate incident took place around 4.30 am near the State Engineering College in Vishwambhrpur area. The home guard, Abhisekh Sharma, was employed with the Excise Department and was in pursuit of liquor carriers when his motorcycle skidded, said SP Avdhesh Dixit.

Dixit noted that a pothole likely caused the motorcycle to skid, leading to the accident. Initial investigations have cleared suspicions of attack by the liquor mafia, though the case is still under examination from various angles.
