A tragic incident unfolded in Saharanpur as a woman took her own life by jumping in front of a moving train, while her mother's suicide attempt was averted by quick-thinking bystanders, authorities reported on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Shivali, was reportedly dealing with significant family-related stress, as confirmed by law enforcement officials. The event occurred late Friday evening in the area under the jurisdiction of Deoband police station.
Saharanpur SP (Rural) Sagar Jain provided details, stating that as a train neared, Shivali, 45, leapt onto the tracks, prompting her mother, Vinod Gambhir, 65, to try and do the same. However, onlookers successfully restrained her. Authorities have confirmed that both women were experiencing mental distress.
