A Maharashtra tehsildar, Prashant Thorat, has been suspended after a video surfaced of him singing a Bollywood song during his farewell ceremony. The footage, filmed during a send-off event in Umri, shows Thorat performing 'Yara Teri Yari Ko' from the 1981 film 'Yaarana.'

The viral video sparked criticism, with many suggesting Thorat's behavior was inappropriate for someone in a government role. This led the Nanded collector to report his actions to higher authorities, citing a breach of the Maharashtra Civil Services (Conduct) Rules.

Following the report, Divisional Commissioner of Revenue Jitendra Papalkar ordered Thorat's suspension, citing that his performance tarnished the administration's image.
