Australia Cancels Visa of Israeli Lawmaker Over Controversial Remarks
Australia has revoked the visa of Israeli Knesset member Simcha Rothman due to his controversial views against Palestinian statehood. Rothman's scheduled visit to Australia was intended to show solidarity with the Jewish community and address antisemitism concerns. His visa was cancelled amidst criticisms of his inflammatory rhetoric.

Australia has rescinded the visa of an Israeli lawmaker, Simcha Rothman, known for his controversial stance against Palestinian statehood and his calls for Israel to annex the occupied West Bank.
Rothman, part of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition, and member of the Religious Zionism party, was scheduled for visits to Sydney and Melbourne this month. His invitation came from a local conservative Jewish organization amidst Australia's upcoming decision to recognize a Palestinian state, which Rothman labeled a 'grave mistake.' In June, Australia joined other nations in imposing sanctions on Israeli ministers, citing incitement issues in the West Bank.
Tony Burke, Australia's Minister for Home Affairs, emphasized the government's zero-tolerance stance on division-promoting visitors, without revealing specific reasons for Rothman's visa cancellation. Rothman was anticipated to support the Jewish community facing antisemitism. AJA's Robert Gregory reiterated the visit aimed at fostering solidarity with Australian Jews.
