Several Adivasi organizations will lead a mass protest, 'Ulgulan Jan Aakrosh Morcha,' in Nashik on August 25, demanding the withdrawal of a government order permitting outsourcing in the recruitment of employees at Adivasi 'ashramshalas'.
The protest, announced by leaders including Sonu Gaikwad from the Ravan Yuva Foundation, follows a 41-day agitation. Participants will comprise not only the agitating employees but also their kin and livestock, highlighting their collective struggle and resourcefulness, covering the route from Tapovan to the Adivasi Vikas Bhavan.
Tensions have escalated since the government's decision, with allegations that the state has remained unresponsive, exemplified by water resources minister Girish Mahajan's refusal to meet outfit leaders. The protest reflects broader unease, as nearly 4,300 tribal ashramshala employees, affected by the May 21 outsourcing order, call for state acknowledgment and action.
