In a significant crackdown on the milk adulteration racket, Mumbai police arrested a 38-year-old man and seized 488 litres of adulterated milk in the city's western suburbs.
The raid took place early Tuesday in the Ghartanpada locality of Dahisar East, where officials discovered Saidul Narsimha Kaveri was operating an illicit operation. Uncovering this large-scale scam, authorities seized 1,350 empty plastic pouches alongside the contaminated milk.
The suspect was allegedly involved in adding impure water to milk and repackaging it under recognized brand names, casting doubt on the purity of widely-consumed dairy products in the city.
