The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officers have seized 119.4 kg of Alprazolam, a psychotropic drug, from a clandestine laboratory in Andhra Pradesh, valued at Rs 24 crore in the illicit market. Eight individuals, including the mastermind, were apprehended, reflecting a significant enforcement success.

In the operation, DRI's Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Kakinada teams confiscated the Alprazolam along with 87.8 kg of in-process material. Authorities also seized 3,600 liters of liquid and 311.6 kg of solid raw materials, critical equipment, and documents to aid further investigations.

The investigation revealed that all suspects had previous criminal records, notably in narcotics and other illegal activities. The accused were plotting to distribute Alprazolam in Telangana to adulterate Toddy, highlighting the network's formation during their time in prison.
