Controversy erupted in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday as tensions between the government and opposition intensified over the issue of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar. Government officials were concerned about the sharing of expunged procedural videos on social media, which violated established protocols.

When the House reconvened post-lunch, the focus was supposed to be on the Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill; however, opposition leaders, led by Mallikarjun Kharge, attempted to shift the discourse towards the SIR issue, asserting it as a threat to democratic integrity. The Chair's refusal to entertain sub-judice debates fueled further dissent.

Despite prohibitions from the Chair, videos of previously expunged speeches were circulated online, prompting BJP MP Radha Mohan Das Agrawal to question the breach of parliamentary privilege. Tiwari, presiding over the session, emphasized that any material not on public record should not be disseminated through platforms like Sansad TV.
