The Delhi High Court is expected to hand down its decision on Wednesday regarding Delhi University's plea to overturn a Central Information Commission (CIC) directive. The order demands the disclosure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's bachelor's degree information.
Justice Sachin Datta, who reserved judgment on February 27, will announce the court's decision at approximately 2:30 pm. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing Delhi University, argued that the CIC order should be annulled. Nonetheless, he stated the university is willing to present its records to the court.
The court had previously reserved judgment on comparable petitions. The CIC's directive followed an RTI application by Neeraj, which requested access to records of students who passed the 1978 BA exam, the year Modi graduated. Delhi University contends that the information is confidential and not subject to disclosure solely due to public curiosity or in the absence of compelling public interest.
