In response to escalating public outrage over the death of 19-year-old Manisha, the Haryana government has suspended mobile internet, SMS, and dongle services in the districts of Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri. The teacher's body was discovered in a field on August 13, sparking a wave of protests and controversy.
Authorities maintain that Manisha died by suicide, a conclusion drawn from the discovery of a suicide note and evidence of self-administered poison. However, her father, Sanjay, and local villagers fervently dispute these findings, insisting on justice and blocking major roads in protest.
The suspension order, effective from August 19 to August 21, was enacted amid fears of escalating tensions and potential property damage. While police have confirmed there was no sexual assault, opposition parties criticize the state's handling of the case, alleging negligence and a failure of law and order.
