The Rajasthan State Election Commission is preparing to initiate panchayat and civic elections following a high court directive. State Election Commissioner Madhukar Gupta announced that the election dates will be revealed within the next ten days.
Gupta stated that the elections would cover gram panchayats and municipal bodies whose five-year terms have concluded. He assured reporters that the entire electoral process would wrap up within two months.
The Commission is committed to the constitutional requirement of holding elections every five years, also complying with the high court's orders. The challenge of 'One State One Election' persists, requiring constitutional changes to synchronize all elections.
