Chhattisgarh's Naxalite Surrender: A Shift in Ideology and Policy Influence

In a significant development in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, eight Naxalites, including two women, have surrendered to the security forces. These individuals carried a cumulative bounty of Rs 30 lakh. Police revealed that the surrender was motivated by dissatisfaction with the 'inhuman and hollow' Maoist ideology and a positive response to the state's rehabilitation initiatives.

The Naxalites, part of the banned Maoist organization, have been identified as Sukhlal Jurri, Hurra alias Himanshu Midiyam, Raju Podiyam alias Sunil Podiyam, Maniram Korram, Sukku Farsa alias Nagesh, Ramu Ram Poyam, Kamla Gota, and Deepa Punem. Sukhlal, known as a Divisional Committee Member and 'Maoist doctor', and Hurra of 'Company Number 1 PPCM', led the group with Rs 8 lakh each on their heads.

This event is part of a larger trend, with 148 Naxalites surrendering in the region this year, reflecting the state and central government's goal to eliminate Naxalism by 2026. Each surrendered individual received an assistance package of Rs 50,000 under the state's new surrender and rehabilitation policy.
