Manipur's sole Rajya Sabha MP, Leishemba Sanajaoba, has taken legal action following online accusations linking him to the Meitei group, Arambai Tenggol, which was purportedly branded as his 'private army'. The complaint was officially filed with Porompat Police Station in Imphal East.

According to the parliamentarian's aide, Maisnam Shivdutta, the allegations were publicly shared on social media on August 18. These accusations were deemed an attack on the lineage of Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba. The complaint strongly denounces the claims and clarifies that the MP's involvement with the group is purely as a promoter of indigenous culture.

Highlighting Leishemba Sanajaoba's efforts in Parliament, specifically his work on behalf of internally displaced persons, the complaint emphasizes that such false allegations can tarnish the image of an esteemed public servant. The report urges the police to pursue legal action against the defamer, upholding the principle that freedom of expression doesn't justify slander.
