The Maharashtra government has taken a significant step by approving the recruitment of 15,631 police and prison constables. This move includes a special concession allowing candidates who exceeded the age limit in 2022 and 2023 to apply, as stated in a Government Resolution (GR) released on Wednesday.
Previously, only 50 percent of posts could be filled through direct recruitment. However, due to a pressing need for more personnel, this restriction has now been lifted according to the GR. The recruitment will occur at the divisional level with the examination conducted via the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) method.
The examination fee is set at Rs 450 for those in the open category and Rs 350 for reserved categories. The recruitment includes 12,399 police constable positions, 234 police constable drivers, 25 Bandsmen, 2,393 armed police constables, and 580 prison constables. The plan will address vacancies from 2024 and those anticipated for 2025.
