In a tragic turn of events in Ernakulam, Kerala, a 46-year-old woman named Asha Benny died by suicide, reportedly after being threatened over financial issues. The police have accused Bindhu and her husband, Pradeep Kumar, of coercing Asha, leading to her untimely death by drowning in the local river.
This week, tensions escalated when a suicide note was discovered at Asha's residence, prompting the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve into the case. Ernakulam Rural Police Chief M Hemalatha confirmed that charges have been revised to include abetment of suicide, reflecting the serious nature of the allegations faced by Bindhu and Pradeep Kumar, a retired police official.
Benny, Asha's husband, revealed the financial strain the family endured due to over Rs 10 lakh in borrowed funds, allegedly exacerbated by exorbitant interest demands. As the investigation continues, authorities are scrutinizing financial transactions and probing potential illegal money lending activities.
