Massive Narcotics Seizure: Billions Worth of Drugs Confiscated Across Indian Ports
Between 2020 and 2024, Indian ports have seen narcotics seizures valued at over Rs 11,310 crore. Major confiscations happened in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. Gujarat's Adani Port SEZ had significant seizures, while major drug recoveries also occurred in Maharashtra's Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Tamil Nadu's VO Chidambaranar Port.

Narcotics valued at more than Rs 11,310 crore have been seized from multiple ports across India between 2020 and 2024, as disclosed in the Rajya Sabha.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, while answering a written question, revealed data on drugs seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by various Drug Law Enforcement Agencies (DLEAs) over the past five years.
In Gujarat, significant seizures were made at Adani Port SEZ, Mundra, including massive quantities of heroin and cocaine. Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu ports also saw large confiscations, reflecting ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking through Indian ports.
