Syria-Israel Talks Spark Hope for Golan Heights Stability

Syria's Foreign Minister met Israel's Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer in Paris on Tuesday to discuss security arrangements in southern Syria, according to two Syrian sources familiar with the meeting.

The talks, mediated by the U.S., are focused on reducing conflict, non-interference in Syrian domestic affairs, and reviving a 1974 disengagement agreement that established a U.N. buffer zone in the Golan Heights.

No public comment came from the Israeli government, but sources confirmed the discussions will continue, with attention on security coordination and the contested idea of a humanitarian corridor to aid the Druze-majority Sweida province.
