A man identified as Prabh Singh has been arrested for allegedly drugging and stealing from his associate, a gold jewellery supplier in Amritsar. Singh fled with 1.34 kg of gold ornaments but was apprehended after a rigorous month-long search operation.
The incident took place on July 8 when Singh reportedly laced his associate's food with sleeping pills at a guest house in Paharganj, leaving him unconscious. Singh then absconded with the gold, Rs 6,500 in cash, and a mobile phone. The Delhi Police tracked Singh to a hotel in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, where he was eventually caught.
During interrogation, Singh confessed and revealed the stolen ornaments were hidden with his brother, Pintu, in Amritsar. A subsequent police raid recovered 1.29 kg of the gold, though Pintu evaded capture. The police are intensifying efforts to recover the remaining gold and apprehend Pintu.
