Pakistan's Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to former prime minister Imran Khan in eight cases linked to the May 9 violence, marking a significant development in the ongoing legal saga.

After Khan was detained by law enforcement in Islamabad, his supporters engaged in widespread vandalism. Consequently, multiple cases were filed against Khan and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership.

Chief Justice Afridi, along with Justices Shafi Siddiqui and Miangul Aurangzeb, led the three-member bench that ruled in Khan's favor. Although welcomed by his party, Khan remains incarcerated due to his conviction in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
