In a significant breakthrough, the police have apprehended a BSF constable who had been evading arrest for over a year. The constable, Gautam Halder, is accused of defrauding a woman of Rs 29 lakh under the pretense of investing in a petrol pump.

Sources reveal that Halder, originally from West Bengal's Nadia district, met the victim at an event and quickly established a romantic connection with her. He allegedly proposed a partnership regarding a petrol pump investment, prompting the woman to hand over the substantial sum before he vanished.

After extensive efforts, involving the scrutiny of phone records and new leads, law enforcement agents finally located Halder working under a fake identity as a manager at a sweet shop in Behala. The accused is now under interrogation as investigations continue.
