Chaos in Darfur: Aid Convoys Under Fire Amid Civil War Blame Game
A U.N. World Food Programme convoy in North Darfur was attacked amid Sudan’s ongoing civil war, sparking blame between warring factions. The incident highlights humanitarian challenges in the region, where blockades and assaults on aid efforts have exacerbated famine and sparked international condemnation.

The conflict in Sudan's Darfur region escalated as a United Nations World Food Programme convoy came under attack, prompting both sides of the civil war to point fingers in a blame game. The convoy, struck near al-Fashir, faced artillery and drone attacks, underscoring the severe risks to humanitarian missions in the area.
According to the World Food Programme, 16 trucks carrying essential food aid to Alsayah village were ambushed, sparking fires on three trucks. No casualties were reported. The conflicting factions, the Sudanese army, and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have accused each other of orchestrating the attack, further deepening the crisis.
Edem Wosornu of the U.N. humanitarian agency OCHA stressed the urgency for security guarantees as aid deliveries remain vulnerable. Meanwhile, international voices, including U.S. Africa advisor Massad Boulos, have urged cooperation to ensure aid reaches the famine-affected region of al-Fashir. The incident highlights the grim humanitarian situation as violence persists.
