The Delhi High Court has quashed FIRs that were lodged between neighbours following a dispute over the handling of their pet dogs. The court also directed each party to pay Rs 10,000 to a canine shelter as a resolution.
Justice Arun Monga stated that the matter was private, arising from unnecessary differences between neighbours regarding their pets. He noted that ongoing criminal proceedings would be unproductive and may exacerbate hostility, contrary to promoting community goodwill. The ruling is from the court's order on August 20.
The conflict escalated during a routine dog-walk and resulted in cross FIRs after allegations of assault and intimidation. After mediation, both parties settled amicably and attributed the disputes to misunderstandings, ultimately signing a memorandum of understanding for resolution.
