A tragic accident on the Assam Highway claimed the lives of a couple while leaving their young son injured after a speeding vehicle collided with their motorcycle near a gurdwara on Wednesday night. Police identified the victims as Rajneesh Verma, 40, and Sangeeta Verma, 38, residents of Behda Multan village in Lakhimpur Kheri district. The family was en route home from a Rudrapur factory when the incident occurred.

The accident unfolded when the speeding vehicle struck the motorcycle, injuring the eight-year-old boy and killing his parents instantly. The victims were rushed to the district hospital, where doctors confirmed the couple had died on arrival. The injured boy continues to receive medical attention.

Police are actively investigating the case, reviewing CCTV footage and obtaining testimonies from eyewitnesses to identify and apprehend the driver responsible for the hit-and-run accident. Gajraula SHO Brajveer Singh assured that all efforts are being made to bring the perpetrator to justice.
