The Centre has ordered the deployment of three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) battalions in the Jammu region to enhance the counter-terrorism grid, official sources revealed on Thursday.
These CRPF units will replace the Rashtriya Rifles, currently stationed in Udhampur and Kathua districts, allowing the Army to focus on border security with Pakistan and China.
This strategic realignment is part of a broader security initiative, introduced two years after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, aimed at managing terrorist threats and improving security infrastructure in the Jammu region.
