A nitrogen gas leak at a pharmaceutical factory in Maharashtra's Palghar district claimed the lives of four workers and seriously injured two more, police said Friday. The Boisar police have filed a case against four senior employees of the company.

The incident occurred Thursday at Medley Pharma's Boisar Industrial Estate facility, situated about 130 kilometers from Mumbai. Initial investigations point to a leak from the nitrogen reaction tank, affecting six employees. Four workers, identified as Kalpesh Raut, Bengali Thakur, Dheeraj Prajapati, and Kamlesh Yadav, succumbed to their injuries at Shinde Hospital.

Authorities are investigating whether safety protocols were breached. The two injured individuals remain in critical condition, under constant medical supervision. Local police and industrial safety officials are conducting preliminary inquiries as the investigation continues.
