Defamation Drama: Rahul Gandhi's Case Adjourned Amidst Legal Twists

A MP-MLA court in Sultanpur adjourned a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi to September 9 after his advocate sought more time. The case, filed by BJP leader Vijay Mishra, stems from Gandhi's alleged remarks against Amit Shah during the 2018 Karnataka Assembly polls. Gandhi claims the case is politically motivated.

The defamation case against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took another turn on Friday when a Sultanpur MP-MLA court postponed the hearing to September 9. The adjournment followed a request from Gandhi's advocate for additional time, amid a legal battle that highlights political tensions.

Petitioner and BJP leader Vijay Mishra's advocate, Santosh Kumar Pandey, confirmed that the hearing was delayed despite the presence of a witness in court. The defense cited logistical challenges, including the absence of Gandhi's main advocate, Kashi Prasad Shukla, as reasons for the delay.

The case centers on Gandhi's controversial remarks about Amit Shah during the 2018 Karnataka Assembly campaign. Gandhi alleged that Shah, then BJP president, was involved in a murder case. However, Shah was previously acquitted by a CBI court. Accusations of legal delays and political strategy continue to underpin the proceedings.
