In a harrowing incident, a girl was allegedly gangraped in a moving vehicle by two men near Udaipur railway station in Tripura's Gomati district. The two accused, Mithun Debnath and Bower Debbarma, both 24, have been apprehended by authorities, according to police reports.
The ordeal unfolded when the victim, along with her neighbors, visited Tripureswari temple. Upon their return, Mithun and Bower allegedly assaulted her while en route to Udaipur railway station in a car, stated Nibha Sinha, officer-in-charge of RK Pur women police station.
The situation came to light when the group was detained at a checkpoint around 10 pm. The victim reported the assault during questioning, leading to the arrests. A forensic team has since examined the vehicle, and the survivor has provided a statement to a local court as part of the ongoing investigation.
